Full Kitchen Commission
2025

A Georgian house in the Colne Valley. A kitchen to match.

The brief was given without an architect. En Masse Bespoke designed, specified, and built every element from first principles. The result is a kitchen that feels as permanent as the house it sits inside.

What began as a kitchen commission has since expanded. En Masse Bespoke are now working through the rest of the house, room by room, with the same care that was brought to the kitchen.

The kitchen at The Bays is built around one constraint: nothing would be compromised. The La Cornue Chateau 180 sits at the heart of the room, flanked by two perfectly mirrored slabs of Calacatta Borghini marble. Above it, the same marble continues as splashback, the veining running without interruption from worktop to ceiling.

The cabinetry throughout is European oak, hand-stained in Coat Paints HOME. Every cabinet, every drawer, every door carries the same Buster and Punch brass bar handle without exception. This was not a practical decision. It was an aesthetic one: the belief that consistency is not a constraint, but the thing that gives a space its sense of intention.

"Consistency is not a constraint. It is what gives a space its sense of intention."

The bespoke brass island frame was designed and built in-house by En Masse Bespoke. Inside each drawer, a small brass maker's plate. Quiet, but there.

Surrounding the La Cornue, a bespoke bar area occupies the full depth of the room. Dark oak panelling, an arched backlit unit, globe pendants. The kind of space that works in the morning and holds its own in the evening.

The herringbone floor runs from the kitchen into the adjoining spaces, chosen to give the whole ground floor a continuous rhythm. A single material, laid properly, doing a great deal of work.
